Almost three weeks after releasing the December 2024 security patch to the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra, Samsung is now rolling the same software update out to their distant cousin, the Galaxy S21 FE.
The tech giant has made the new software update available for the variant of the Galaxy S21 FE that it sells in Asian, the Middle Eastern, and African countries, which has the model number SM-G990E. The update carries firmware version G990EXXSCFXL2.
The December 2024 security patch fixes several security issues. You can check them out here. To get the update, navigate to Settings » Software update » Download and install. You can also download it from our database and install it using Odin.
Expect Samsung release the update to other variants of the Galaxy S21 FE in the next few days. On a related note, the phone is also eligible to get Android 15-based One UI 7. You can check out its main features in our video below.
