Samsung has been working more closely with Google over the past 3-4 years. Many new features that Google developed for Android and WearOS came first to Samsung devices. They even co-developed Wear OS 3 to save the Android smartwatch industry.
Now, it looks like Samsung will be the first Android brand to get Gemini AI integration with its stock apps.
Tipster @chunvn888 has posted screenshots that reveal the upcoming integration of Gemini AI with Samsung's stock apps. Samsung Calendar, Samsung Notes, and Samsung Reminder will work with Gemini to ease your day-to-day usage.
With Gemini commands (voice or text), you can create, edit, or delete events in Samsung Calendar. You can also capture information from images to create events inside Samsung's stock Calendar app. Using voice commands, you can also create and summarize notes. You would also be able to retrieve notes based on a short description.
Gemini will also be able to create reminders for a specific date or time, edit a reminder (name, date, or time), search existing reminders, or delete reminders in the Samsung Reminder app.
There will be a few limitations to Gemini integration. In Samsung Calendar, you can't share events or detect overlapping events using Gemini commands. You can't create or delete folders, add tags to notes, or invite people to shared notes in Samsung Notes.
The Reminders app can't add locations or photos to reminders, add or edit categories, or add checklists. Hopefully, Samsung will add those capabilities in the future.
As these screenshots display new app icons that debuted with One UI 7.0, it is likely that Gemini's integration with Samsung's stock apps will only be available on phones and tablets running One UI 7.0.
Samsung is expected to release the stable version of One UI 7.0 to the Galaxy S24 series sometime next month. The new version of One UI will debut with the Galaxy S25 series.
