Samsung's big Tizen 8 update with the One UI theme on top is finally rolling out on select 2023 smart TVs in Europe. Previously, the update went live in a couple of markets, including India, the UK, and Canada.
Now, we can confirm that One UI is rolling out in European markets like the Netherlands and Romania. This is a hefty firmware package that pushes the OS version from 2000 to 2013 (on 2023 Neo QLED, although you might see version 6500 initially) and replaces Tizen 7 with Tizen 8.
To top it all off, Samsung calls it a One UI update as part of its efforts to unify the UX design language across multiple platforms, i.e., mobile and TV. Once you get this new update, you'll notice a few UI changes that resemble One UI on Galaxy phones, such as app icons with rounder corners and more similar designs and colors.
There is a whole lot more going on with this new Tizen 8 One UI update for TVs, regardless of whether you're getting it in Europe or another region. For a full changelog, read our original update story or check out the screenshot gallery below, captured on a QN90C Neo QLED model.
One of the big changes introduced by this update consists of the new Samsung Daily+ tab, which offers quick access to features like SmartThings, Map View, Ring My Phone, fitness apps and exercises, and Philips Hue.
The quick settings and Connected Devices panels have also been completely redesigned and now blend more seamlessly with the general UI.
To grab this new Tizen 8 One UI update for your smart TV, tap the Settings button on your remote, go to “All Settings,” navigate to “Support,” select “Software update,” and “Update now.”
