RIYADH — As part of its ongoing efforts to improve services for pilgrims, the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has launched an enhanced free hair cutting service for Tahallul, the act of exiting the state of Ihram after completing the Umrah rituals. This upgrade aims to improve service quality and accommodate the large influx of visitors to the Grand Mosque during Ramadan, which marks the peak annual Umrah season. Twelve mobile hair-cutting units will serve approximately 360,000 beneficiaries throughout the season, offering free services to men and women at designated locations near the Marwah Gate and the eastern courtyard of the Grand Mosque. The Tahallul service operates eight mobile units year-round, six for men and two for women, and this increased to 12 during Ramadan, including 10 units for men and two for women. To date, it has served over two million beneficiaries, with a monthly average of 210,000 pilgrims and daily average of 7000. The service includes continuous sterilization of tools and service areas to maintain high safety standards. Average waiting times are around four minutes, and service completion takes no more than two minutes. These initiatives reflect the authority's commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and service quality and providing an integrated environment that supports the journey of pilgrims and enriches their experience at the Grand Mosque throughout the year, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
