While the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to bring a redesigned camera layout and improved image quality, anyone hoping to see those upgrades trickle down to the Galaxy Z Fold 9 and Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra next year may be disappointed. According to a new leak, that will not be the case.
Tipster yeux1122 reports that the base Galaxy Z Fold 9 will stick with the same 50MP + 50MP dual-camera setup as its predecessor. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra will reportedly feature a 200MP primary rear camera, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom.
While the resolution of the Z Fold 9 Ultra’s telephoto sensor has not leaked yet, we expect it to remain at 10MP or 12MP, aligning with rumors surrounding the Galaxy S27 Pro's camera configuration.
Samsung is reportedly developing two distinct versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 9, and it remains unclear whether the company will release both models or scrap one before launch.
Given that the Galaxy S27 Pro and the Galaxy S27 Ultra use two different Snapdragon chips, Samsung could follow suit with its foldables, equipping the Galaxy Z Fold 9 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and reserving the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 for the Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra.
