A few days ago, Samsung released the latest security update to the Galaxy S22 series. However, the update was limited to the USA. Now, the same update is being released in several countries across Europe.
The Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra have started getting the January 2025 security update in Europe. The update comes with firmware version S90xBXXSDEXL1 and includes the January 2025 security patch that fixes several dozen security loopholes discovered in the previous software.

If you live in Europe and have a Galaxy S22 series phone, you can check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update » Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our database and flash it manually.

Samsung is expected to release the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update to the Galaxy S22 series in the next few weeks. The Galaxy S25 was the first phone to launch with One UI 7.0, and the same software will soon be released to existing compatible phones.
The Galaxy S22 series was launched with Android 12 onboard in 2022. It received the Android 13 update in late 2022 and the Android 14 update in late 2023.
