Samsung's Galaxy S flagship series is about to change big time. In an unprecedented move, Samsung ended its recent Unpacked launch event in San Jose with a massive teaser that confirmed a fourth Galaxy S flagship model is on its way.
It's called Galaxy S25 Edge, and even though Samsung teased it and had it on display for Unpacked attendees to see, most of the phone's technical details have not yet been officially confirmed.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is a brand-new entry into the Galaxy S series, so you can bet there is a lot of buzz around it. Many specs have been speculated upon, and if you want to catch up on the latest rumors and reports, you will find a full recap below.
This story will be updated as new information about the Galaxy S25 Edge emerges.
The most unique features of the Galaxy S25 Edge is its slim profile, which is why industry watchers used to refer to this phone as the “Galaxy S25 Slim” before Unpacked.
Even so, nobody knows precisely how thin the Galaxy S25 Edge will be once it goes on sale. Samsung said the design demonstrated at Unpacked is subject to change, but the demo unit looked very skinny.
Some say the phone will have a 6.4mm profile, but this has yet to be confirmed, and if Samsung intends to break any of its previous records, it will have to create an even thinner device than 6.4mm.
Spec-wise, the Galaxy S25 Edge should share some DNA with the rest of the series. However, instead of the full-fledged 8-core Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, the Galaxy S25 Edge could feature the 7-core version of the same SoC. Other specs may include:
One other unusual Galaxy S25 Edge characteristic is the rumored camera configuration. Initial rumors said the phone would be equipped with a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide shooter.
However, a new rumor states that the phone is equipped with a 200MP primary unit and a 12MP ultra-wide camera.
Either way, the demo unit Samsung showcased at Unpacked 2025 had two cameras rather than three or more. That could be a turn-off for camera enthusiasts, but we'll have to see how it all turns out.
The device will likely have a 12MP front-facing selfie shooter.
Lastly, it's unclear if the Galaxy S25 Edge will enjoy a global release, but rumors say it may go on sale in April. Pricing details are also unknown, but people expect the phone to be positioned between the Galaxy S25+ and the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
All in all, the Galaxy S25 Edge will be a reinterpretation of the Samsung premium phone formula — one we haven't had before. It's something new, and it kind of shows that Samsung is still willing to step outside its comfort zone. Whether or not the phone and Samsung's efforts will be worth it remains to be determined.
