Samsung's most feature-packed mid-range phone of 2025, the Galaxy A56, is getting its first software update. The Galaxy A56 launched in March this year running Android 15 and One UI 7 onboard, and its first update comes just a month or so after the phone hit retail shelves.

This update brings the April 2025 security patch to the Galaxy A56, and you can identify it by the build number A566BXXS2AYD3. Its rollout began in Thailand just a couple of days ago and other markets should get it in the next few weeks.

A security patch is all you're getting with this update. That's not surprising for a device that launched with the latest version of Android and One UI out of the box. The April 2025 patch brings a total of 56 fixes for security vulnerabilities in Samsung devices, and you can find more details about it here.

To download the update, head into your Galaxy A56's Settings » Software update menu and tap Download and install. Since the A56 supports seamless updates, you can continue to use the phone while the update is installed and then do a quick restart to start using the new software. This is the first of many updates for the Galaxy A56. The phone is eligible for six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. As far as security updates are concerned, we expect it to receive them monthly for the first three years and then once every three months until software support ends in 2031.
