Samsung is not only the world's biggest smartphone brand but also an innovator in the mobile networks space. Its telecommunication network division, Samsung Networks, powers the 5G networks of some of the world's biggest network carriers. It now says that it aims to integrate AI into 6G network technology for improved quality.
In line with the latest trends, Samsung wants to add AI to 6G networks as well. After publishing its first research whitepaper on 6G telecommunication technology in 2020, the company is back with a new whitepaper on the subject. It says using AI across the whole telecommunication system will improve the network quality and make it more sustainable.
The South Korean firm explained how 6G technology could improve our day-to-day lives. It says 6G will improve XR experiences for entertainment, healthcare, and science. It says 6G will also improve Digital Twin technology, which creates a virtual version of any physical entity.
Samsung says 6G will also improve massive communication, offering constant connectivity between multiple devices, sensors, machines, and terminals. It says 6G will also improve Ubiquitous Connectivity, which allows connectivity between terrestrial (conventional) and non-terrestrial (satellite) networks.
6G can reportedly also improve Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) connectivity, which is like wired connectivity but doesn't use wires. Samsung says using AI in these segments will reduce costs and improve service coverage.
Samsung expects the 6G telecommunication standard to be finalized somewhere around 2030. So, we can only see 6G networks after five years from now.
